1. The wisdom that comes with experience as a teacher is priceless. The Thanksgiving break made me realize that a potential burn out was coming and rather than trying to push through. I have relaxed and let the children be children, join in on the fun, give them "work days" and minimize my lessons so I can facilitate and come home relaxed.

2. I teach a majority of the "issue" kids because I just work well with them so I often get kids that are suffering from some emotional disturbances/mental health issues. It is always disheartening how parents push for their child to be normal rather than getting them the help they need. I'm not a parent so I can't understand the helplessness you feel towards your child but pushing them to be in as stressful environment as school, especially middle school, when they are mentally not right is not beneficial to anyone. You can learn at any age but your mind has to be right.

3. I am all about kids transferring for the best educational option but if you are not an asset to your campus you gotta go. I used to feel differently but now that I have seen the sheer amount of resources that go towards a non-district "issue" student that could be towards a zoned student...sorry you gots ta go.

4. Kids feel they can say and do anything to a teacher because they witnessed a parent say and do anything to/about a teacher.

5. I hope ya'll remember Mr. Suck My D*ck...he has still been cussing teachers out left and right. Some of his greatest hits...
" N*gga, bring your ass over here and teach me."
*after long talk with admin about positive interactions, walks into class* "What's up muthaf*ckas!"
*to essentially anybody* "BITCH"
.....I could keep going on but he would more albums than Tupac in his short years of life

5a. He poured milk and three students and when they proceeded to try to jump him, he said that a teacher let him falsely be accused and called him a "fat ass."

5b. He emailed admin about his version of events.

5c. His mom now wants to meet with the teacher....but never before him cussing anybody else out.

6. This story is related to #5. Cussin' Cassius(not his real name but it should be) has a brother in 8th grade, we'll call him Gentle Giant. I do not teach either of these children. Very important. Remember this.

6a. Now I meet my kids where they are...sometimes the places are a bit weird but I meet them there. I'm a pretty funny person so I like to bring my humor to the classroom . Teaching middle school students requires me to walk the tight rope of witty, clever, low/high brow jokes. So anywho I borrowed a lesson from a teacher way more brash than me put my spin on it and the kids took it and ran with it. They now refer to this concept as the "Booty Method"

6b. If you would like to know about the "Booty Method". I will explain.

6c. At no point did I ever mention the word booty..

6d.In a science class, the concept came up again...a student that has been turnt since break said "Hey! I know this! This is the booty method! Mrs. Washington taught us this! Booty, booty, boooty, boooooty...."

6e. Gentle Giant is in this SCIENCE class. He goes home and tells his mom "I learned the booty method today. Mrs. Washington taught it!"

6f. Mom wants to conference with me because "booty" is in appropriate at school...

6g. This is the mom of Cussin' Cassius...who told an entire hallway to suck his dick.

6h. This is what teaching has become.
