1. Mondays are trash. So much so that I have figured out the plan to a four day work week that alternates between Mondays and Fridays off. Don't worry those days when teachers are "off" the kids can come in for extra duty pay and watch your kids do extracurriculars or study hall. This is just a fantasy, but the more I think education is done so wrong in K-12.

1a. "When you grow up you have to work five days, so schools should be five days a week." Completely negating college, community college or vocational training where your schedule is how you make it, totally disregarding a five day work week.

1b. Again fantasy but any education reform should consider these things.

2. The fact that I have the freedom to create my own pacing guide and moved the "easy" things to the second semester has made my life so much easier in regards to teaching and planning lessons.

2a. The fact that spring semester is a clusterfuck of shit however is not helping my zen.

3. I had to have a serious talk with my students about growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. I mean if you wanted to know what your favorite celebrity was doing you had to watch Diary on MTV or Cribs. There was no social media to keep up with. It was Team Britney or Christina, Nsync or Backstreet Boys (...then I had to explain that logically I was superior because I was Team Christina because she could sing and Nsync because they were talented and young unlike those Backstreet Men) THEN forget a YouTube that is now inundated with fake couples and pranks and bullshit, we had The Real World where strangers from all over the country lived in a house in a random city, had a "job", and sex and stds and boyfriends and girlfriends and fights!...

3a. By the end of this rant they thought I grew up in the wild wild west and were very curious about this simple time.

4. Some child at the school has created a school shaderoom. I heard it's messy. This happens every year the kids get bored and get to being messy on the social medias. I'm not excited for this.

5. Let me end on a positive note...This school year, January included is moving quickly! If February moves this fast I will be forever grateful!
