Morning Teacher Observation Rant Pt. 2
Look lady...nobody cares that you read the board policy. Good for you because I didn't read it! That thing was 300 pages, I couldn't find the time since I now have to be your child's dietitan and personal trainer. As a teacher there are many hats I wear and things I know, the legality of recess is not one of them. Should I? I'm not sure? Just like you know you shouldn't be emailing me about personal matters from work but here we are. I'm sure that's in your employers handbook as well. To insinuate that recess is a necessary educational component is...a bit of hyperbole. I mean I'm hearing about them taking it away all the time to increase academic success so....besides your child spends most of their recess whining to any adult about how somebody hit them and they did absolutely nothing at all...not even retaliate, let alone initiate. Then you made up a policy that they can only sit out five minutes? Huh? Where? Then demanded I not continue AND demanded that I inform of any infraction that your child commits because you give consequences at home....After all of you this you email my boss, who emails me ( but not about that evaluation conference that is past due...but no penalty for you) about recess and now the teachers secret punishment weapon is gone and the school is on fire.
I wrote a nicely worded email explaining class punishment, praising your child and informing you of my classroom management system which will send it directly to your personal email address, that you shouldn't be accessing at work but that is neither here nor there. Yet here we are...you telling me to do what I already and I have more of the same suggestions.
1. Homeschool your child so you can have a one stop shop of....whatever it is you desire
2. Incorporate physical activity as punishment so he can get his extra educational component and combat that obesity that is ravaging the nation
3. I had your son last year and did this all the time you didn't care. I now know you have a favorite child.
